The way the app seems to work is you use 2-factor authentication once when you configure your account, then forevermore it opens your email when you open the app with no password or pin requirement. So this is entirely on them. That said, you can add your Google account to Windows and you will be able to access your email, calendar and contacts in the native Microsoft Mail & Calendar apps.
